How has attending an HBCU set you up for success?

Attending an HBCU has given me a strong sense of community, cultural pride, and professional confidence. At Howard University, I’ve gained access to invaluable networking opportunities, mentorship, and career resources tailored to Black excellence. The supportive environment has empowered me to navigate competitive industries while staying true to my identity. Through leadership roles, creative projects, and business organizations, I’ve honed my skills in marketing, design, and consulting. My HBCU experience has not only prepared me academically and professionally but has also reinforced my commitment to reshaping Africa’s global narrative through creativity and innovation.

What inspired you to apply for the "Celebrating Fashion Future" program?

As a marketing major and aspiring creative director, I’m passionate about the intersection of fashion, branding, and digital innovation. The Celebrating Fashion’s Future program by Steve Madden and Shopify presents an incredible opportunity to learn from industry leaders shaping the future of fashion commerce. With experience in visual storytelling, content creation, and brand strategy, I’m eager to explore how technology and creativity drive success in the fashion industry. This program aligns with my goal of developing impactful, forward-thinking marketing strategies that elevate brands and connect with audiences in meaningful ways.

What drives you? Share your passions, values, or a defining experience that shaped who you are today.

I’m driven by the power of creativity to shape narratives and connect people. My passion for branding, design, and storytelling stems from my desire to amplify diverse voices and redefine how culture is represented in fashion and media. A defining moment for me was curating Colored Introspection, an exhibition exploring self-discovery through art. It reinforced my belief that creativity can inspire change and challenge perspectives. I value authenticity, innovation, and community, and I’m committed to using my skills to craft meaningful, impactful experiences that bridge culture, commerce, and creativity.

How do you see yourself as part of Fashion's future? What unique perspective or contribution will you bring to the industry?

I see myself shaping fashion’s future by blending storytelling, branding, and digital innovation to create authentic, culture-driven experiences. By amplifying underrepresented voices and pushing creative boundaries, I aim to make fashion more inclusive, impactful, and forward-thinking.

What excites you about the intersection of entrepreneurship and corporate careers, and how do you see yourself navigating both worlds?

I’m excited by the balance of creativity and strategy that entrepreneurship and corporate careers offer. Entrepreneurship fuels my passion for innovation, giving me the freedom to build authentic brand experiences, while a corporate career provides structure, resources, and mentorship to refine my skills. I see myself navigating both by leveraging corporate experience to gain industry insights, then applying that knowledge to entrepreneurial ventures that push creative boundaries

How has this program helped you grow personally and what's one insight you're taking with you for the future?

One key insight I’m taking with me is the importance of adaptability—fashion is constantly evolving, and success comes from staying curious, embracing change, and leveraging innovation. Whether in corporate or entrepreneurial spaces, I plan to apply this mindset to build brands that are both culturally relevant and future-focused.
