What inspired you to apply for the "Celebrating Fashion Future" program?

My roommate had done the program last year and when she came back she felt like the experience had inspired her. And it made me curious. I love fashion, I love to travel, how could I say no to a wonderful opportunity like that.

What drives you? Share your passions, values, or a defining experience that shaped who you are today.

What drives me is wanting to be in rooms with successful people. And then one day becoming a successful person myself. I'm passionate about being an example for my generation, and then have people ask me what I do to get to where I am today so that they can become successful. I want everyone to win!

How do you see yourself as part of Fashion's future?

I see myself redefining what is acceptable in fashion. Clothes are meant to be worn… so never be scared to try something on regardless of other peoples options. In the future, I want to shape fashion as something that should be daring. If you're not scared, then you're not doing it right.

How does your campus Black Retail Action Group (BRAG) create community and opportunity for students?

BRAG truly helps you define your passion. It's not only about fashion, who are you? What are your values? And how can you display that? Though your outfit? through your work? BRAG allows you to start asking yourself questions on what matters to you.

How has attending an HBCU set you up for success?

It's truly shifted my mind. I constantly am looking at examples. Anything I am inspired to do, there is another black woman who is doing it. It shows to me that nothing is impossible, no matter your skin tone or where you come from. Being at an HBCU taught me that being myself is enough.
