What inspired you to apply for the "Celebrating Fashion Future" program?
After my first year in CFF, I noticed how much stronger my work becomes when it’s challenged in real industry spaces. I came back this year because I’m no longer just curious about fashion, but I’m invested in understanding how decisions are made, how brands scale, and how creative ideas can still survive in corporate environments. CFF gives me access to those conversations. Returning this year is more about refinement and learning how to operate in the fashion industry.
What drives you? Share your passions, values, or a defining experience that shaped who you are today.
I’m driven by problem-solving through creativity. I don’t just want to make things that look good, I want to question why they exist and who they’re for. Being a fashion student taught me that design is as much about discipline and clarity as it is expression. What keeps me going is knowing that my work can expand what’s possible for young, underrepresented creatives who are still looking for themselves in this industry.
How do you see yourself as part of Fashion's future?
I see myself as someone who helps fashion slow down by educating consumers to help them make more conscious decisions. I bring a perspective backed by lived experiences and challenging the industry norms. In the future, I want to help create systems that respect creativity and the artists behind the art, instead of extracting from it.
How does your campus Black Retail Action Group (BRAG) create community and opportunity for students?
HU BRAG creates access. They do a great job of exposing students to the realities of retail and fashion careers while building a network before entering the industry. BRAG helps students see pathways they may not have considered and prepares them to enter those spaces with an open mind.
How has attending an HBCU set you up for success?
Attending an HBCU has taught me how to lead without shrinking myself. At Howard, excellence isn’t an exception, it’s expected. As a graduating senior, I’ve learned to sharpen my confidence and self-advocacy skills, and allowed me to grow alongside people who are just as driven and creative. Howard has prepared me to get comfortable with being uncomfortable and understand that my voice is valuable.
