What inspired you to apply for the "Celebrating Fashion Future" program?
I was inspired to apply because I want to own my own boutique post-grad. Steve Madden's journey as an entrepreneur is inspiring to me. I also work a retail job and have the experience of starting from the bottom.
What drives you? Share your passions, values, or a defining experience that shaped who you are today.
I’m driven by high standards for myself, and a genuine passion for fashion and self expression.
How do you see yourself as part of Fashion's future?
I see myself as someone who wants to effect change in the industry and enable the creativity of smaller artists and build community. My unique aesthetic tastes and background give me a different perspective.
How does your campus Black Retail Action Group (BRAG) create community and opportunity for students?
Black Retail Action Group gives us the space to network and find community in people who have the same career aspirations. Everyone in BRAG is going to be part of fashion's future and it’s important we have the space to connect.
How has attending an HBCU set you up for success?
Howard has kept it realer than any other college I could’ve gone to. The professors and peers at Howard understand that our success is going to be somewhat of a “breaking the glass ceiling”. Grit and resilience has always been emphasized to us.
