What inspired you to apply for the "Celebrating Fashion Future" program?
I was inspired to apply for the Celebrating Fashion Future program because it invites students to step outside of their comfort zones while celebrating limitless creativity in fashion. I was drawn to its emphasis on brand strategy, retail connection, and the Steve Madden brand as a whole. As an entrepreneur with multiple years of retail experience and interests spanning law, marketing, and culture, I have often questioned where these pursuits intersect within the fashion industry. Winning the Steve Madden Retail Award in 2023 for my on-campus business, HU Beauty Supply, affirmed my unconventional path, making this program feel like a natural next step to immerse myself, explore the industry’s many avenues, and discover where I can contribute most meaningfully.

How do you see yourself as part of Fashion's future?
I see myself as part of Fashion’s future by blending personal expression with purpose. Fashion has always been central to how I explore my identity through bold prints, color, and confident styling. Modeling allows me to give life to clothing while using my presence as a statement of individuality and representation. Beyond the runway, I plan to study fashion and entertainment law, advocating for creatives behind the scenes. Whether in front of the camera or at the negotiating table, I aim to help shape an industry that values creativity, confidence, and equity.
How does your campus Black Retail Action Group (BRAG) create community and opportunity for students?
BRAG at Howard University creates community and opportunity through comprehensive programming that centers students’ personal and professional success. Its mission is to prepare students exploring careers in fashion, retail, and business—without placing limits on their dreams. As a member of the executive board and Operations and Logistics Director, I played a direct role in ensuring programs ran smoothly and effectively advanced our members’ growth. Although this was my first year in the organization, I gained clarity in my career path and built meaningful connections with peers, especially through Celebrating Fashion Future (CFF).
How has attending an HBCU set you up for success?
Attending an HBCU has set me up for success by teaching me resilience, discipline, and how to advocate for myself. Through transformative academic and professional opportunities, I’ve grown as both a leader and a person. At Howard, I learned that when space isn’t readily available, I have the power to create it—building community and opportunity in the process. The education has challenged me to think critically while affirming my identity as a Black woman. As a graduating senior, I leave prepared, confident, and equipped to tackle whatever comes my way.
